“Hey Rob At last night’s Property Council of Australia - National Awards, Wentworth Point Town Centre received the award for Best Master-planned Community and, the surprise of the night, was also selected from all finalists in all sectors, as Australian Property of the Year [2022].
This is Australia’s most prestigious property award and, in my capacity as Master-planner, and Design Director since 2002, while I thanked the team from the stage,
I wanted to thank you in particular for unlocking the complex retail potential of the development under pressure at the time. Your work was a tipping point in the coming-together of a truly inspired high-density mixed-use community. Your efforts as retail architect, over two city blocks, involved the spatial stacking of two levels of retail, including the full-line Coles Supermarket, with 800 apartments above and two levels of residential parking both below and above the retail.
Crucially your thinking challenged a number of orthodoxies to create a hybrid centre, resolving the demands of a suburban supermarket-anchored retail format while also developing the opportunities of highly activated urban streets.
Your solutions included integrating residential lift cores with the retail while keeping clear of the Coles box, a clever giant loading dock shared by the retail and residential users and those beautiful tubular skylights thrusting through the carpark to the community gardens above.
Congratulations on your ideas and thanks for your participation in this, the heart of the community of 8,000 people who have chosen to live in the new Wentworth Point Town Centre to date.”

“ … Robert Sanderson, the architect for Lane Cove, started his own business under resolution architecture. I had a very good work experience with him on this project when he was with Scott Carver. Considering how difficult the project was, Robert always maintained a positive attitude and came up with creative design solutions to different issues that were raised during the design phase. He also kept an excellent relationship with Lane Cove Council that helped us during the negotiations for external facades signage, mechanical components, … etc.
I do recommend to have Robert added to our list of experienced architects for future projects.”

“AECOM has been working with Robert Sanderson since 2017 on ‘The Canopy’ Project [ for Lane Cove Council ]. The project was delivered by way of a D&C Contract awarded to ADCO Constructions, with Robert the principal design consultant in charge of coordination of all other design disciplines. As part of the tender submission contractors were required to submit concept designs with the evaluation of the design a heavily weighted tender evaluation criterion. ADCO won the design contest largely due to Robert’s efficient design of the carpark, retail levels, and public spaces.
Over the course of the project the design evolved significantly to satisfy all the competing stakeholders’ requirements. Robert was a true asset in his ability to prepare multiple design options using photo realistic renders to help project stakeholdersunderstand the finished product and make layout and specification selections.
During Robert’s time on the project, he understood the Client’s needs and the broader stakeholder engagement and liaisonthat was required to successfully deliver the project. Robert showed a strong ability to manage people, particularly in navigating the multiple personalities and interests given the often-conflicting drivers for the success of the project. Throughout the project the Robert had the full respect of all project parties due to his professionalism and expertise. Robert always provided timely advice to the project.
This is largely reflected in Robert’s enthusiasm to deliver the project. From a client perspective, Robert was alwaysapproachable and offered ongoing advice and support throughout the construction of the project. I would not hesitate in recommending Robert for the provision of future architectural services.
The commitment and support Robert provided the project has made it a pleasure to work with him …”
